I got some great feedback from Volker that he wanted to see the scores of the people that were beating him. That’s totally in line with our mission – learn from the best! In a combination of fairness and credits optimization, I decided to expose everyone’s criteria on the leaderboard, but only visible once you’ve submitted their scores.
please add the words chosen (like you’ve done in the play history page) to the leaderboard, (so users can see what others have entered but ONLY allow them to be visible once the player has played that day. If the user who hasn’t played yet today visits the leaderboard, they should still see the gamertags and rankings, but they should see neither the scores, nor the words chosen by the leaders, until they’ve made their day’s guess.
Also, to protect against spam. The game is naturally spam resistant – to get to the top of the leaderboard, you’ve got to score well, and since the criteria are the score, any wasted words on off-topic rants push troll scores down naturally.
Anything that [meets my criteria for redaction] should not appear publicly and should say -REDACTED- instead. This is a family app, after all!
Balancing elimination of off-topic and allowing for lots of creativity will be an ongoing challenge , so expect further tunings to the REDACTED phrasing, and please do report inappropriate submissions!
